GV II

Terraced houses. c.1825. Developed by Richard Laycock. Yellow-brown brick set in Flemish bond, stucco, roof obscured by parapet. Two storeys over basement, two windows each. The houses form a symmetrical group of three pairs with linked porches, and the window bays of the central pair, nos 9 and 10, break forward. Segmental-arched window to basement. Steps up to stuccoed flat-arched porch with antae and entablature, leading to flat-arched entrance with simple doorcase, cornice and overlight with decorative glazing, panelled doors of original design. The windows on both floors in the window bay are set in an elliptical-arched recessed panel with gauged brick head; that to the ground floor is flat-arched with gauged brick head and balcony with iron railings, that to no 12 probably a later insertion. First-floor windows flat-arched with gauged brick heads and 6/6 sashes to entrance bay, 8/8 to window bay. Stucco band at cornice level and parapet, the parapet broken centrally above porches by a small pedimented block. No 12 appears to have been much rebuilt. (Historians' file, English Heritage London Division).
