GV II

Semi-detached houses. 1847-53. Developed by George Frasi and James Beaumont. Yellow brick set in Flemish bond, stucco, roof of slate. Four storeys over basement, no 22 with three windows, no 23 with two; the two houses divided by a recessed panel one brick wide. Entrance in outer bay set back, two-storey to no 22, single-storey to no 23, the stuccoed porch having a round arch with archivolt, and round-arched entrance with cornice and fanlight; cornice, blocking course to no 23, upper storey with round-arched window with architrave, cornice and blocking course to no 22. Basement stuccoed, ground-floor windows round-arched with gauged brick heads and set back under a stucco archivolt linked by springing bands; stucco sill band to first floor; first- and second-floor windows flat-arched with architraves, and cornice on consoles to first floor; sashes of original design; stuccoed enclosed eaves; attic window to gable in both returns; the return to no 22 has a modillion cornice; stacks to party walls.
