Pair of semi-detached villas. In passageway/street linking Wharton Street/Lloyd Square to Great Percy Street. c.1832 by John Booth, and his son, also John, Surveyors for the Lloyd Baker Estate. Multi-coloured stock brick set in Flemish bond with stucco dressings, and stucco pediment over pair; Welsh (no. 8) and artificial slate (7) gabled roofs; discreet roof extensions; centre brick stacks. Restrained Greek Revival style. Side-hall entrance plan to outer bay of each house. Two-storeys with basement; 2 windows each plus entrance bay with recessed 1st floor extension over entrance; no. 8 with visible left-hand return wall of 3-window range. Low steps rise to deeply recessed stucco entrance with antae supporting entablature. No. 8 prostyle portico on corner with stone balustrade. Doorway with double panelled doors and rectangular overlight: flanking pilasters and diamond-patterned overlight to no. 8. Architraved 6/6 sashes throughout; left return with blind windows except 1st floor recessed outer bays with narrower doors or sashes. Moulded stucco storey band between ground and 1st floors. Extensive rebuilding to 1st floor of no. 7. Plain stucco band beneath pediments; stone coping to 1st floor recessed bay. Attached iron railings.
