Five terraced houses. In sloping street approaching Percy Circus. c.1839-1841, altered and damaged C20. Probably by William Chadwell Mylne, Surveyor for the New River Estate. Yellow stock bricks with stucco ground-floor lined as ashlar (nos. 41 & 43 banded) and stucco dressings; party-wall brick stacks; roofs obscured. Side-hall entrance plan. Four storeys with basement, 2 windows each. (41A & 41 with left-hand return wall of 2 windows). Low steps rise to entrance in left bay (nos. 41A & 41 with entrances in Holford Street): doorway (nos. 41 & 41A architraved with console-bracketed rosette cornices; no. 41A narrower) with pilaster jambs carrying corniced-head, panelled door (all C20) and rectangular overlight, some with oval pattern. 6/6 sashes to ground, 1st and 2nd floors. 1st floor stucco sill band to gauged-brick flat arched full-length sashes (nos. 41 & 43 with architraved 1st floor sashes with console-bracketed cornices); coupled cast-iron bracketed balconies with iron railings. Gauged-brick flat arches to 2nd and 3rd floor (3/3) sashes. Parapets, nos. 41 and 43 with brick triglyph motif and stone coping and cornice at 3rd floor level. Attached cast-iron railings with hubb and disc finials. Included for group value.
