Detached house. 1856-61. Developed by Henry Rydon and probably designed by Charles Hambridge. Brick, now painted, with dressings of stone or stucco, roof of slate. Three storeys over basement, two-window range. Steps up to round-arched entrance with cornice and fanlight in single-storey porch set back to right with pilasters, entablature, deep cornice and blocking course. Storey band between basement and ground floor. Ground-floor windows flat-arched, the architraves now completely plain and set back between broad superimposed pilasters, with lion's head ornament and foliage drops in narrow inset panels below them; panel of Vitruvian scroll ornament with lion's head to the apron; the pilasters support entablature at first floor sill level; first-floor windows have basket arches and architraves of panelled pilasters supporting consoles, pediment and frieze of Vitruvian scroll with lion's head; storey band; second-floor windows also basket-arched with cable moulding to architraves and keystone, the windows set in a recessed panel between broad pilasters with lion's heads and foliage drops; modillion cornice to boxed eaves, hipped roof with side stacks, those to the right truncated; additional wing of basement and ground floor, two-window range, set back to right; three-storey wing of one-window range set back to left.
