GV II

Terraced houses. 1773-4. Developed and designed by John Spiller. Brick, stucco and roofs of slate. Three storeys over basement, plus dormers. No 1 has a side entrance through a stuccoed Ionic porch distyle in antis, with panelled door and fanlight; there is a single-storey extension to the right with two tripartite sash windows under flat arches of gauged brick. Borough of Islington plaque commemorating Walter Sickert. No 2 has a late C19 commercial front in stucco and red brick. No 3 has original semi-circular arched recessed entrance with panelled door of original design and late C19/20 shopfront alongside. The ground floor of no 4 was altered in the late C19 in the Queen Anne style using rubbed brick and stone detailing. Stucco storey band between ground and first floor on nos 1-3. Upper windows flat-arched with gauged brick heads and some 6/6 sashes of original design; brick band to coped parapet; dormers in mansard roof; stacks to party walls. Area railings with pinched spike and acorn finials to nos 1, 3 and 4; no 2 has late C19 scrolled iron balustrade.
