GV II

Terraced houses. c.1845. Yellow brick set in Flemish bond, stucco, roofs of Welsh and artificial slate. Three storeys over basement, two windows each except no 85 which has three windows with recessed three-storey entrance bay. Basement and ground floor stuccoed, the ground floor decorated with banded rustication. Steps up to round-arched entrance; nos 55-61 have pilaster jambs, cornice and fanlight, no 55 with decorative glazing, no 59 the fanlight blocked; nos 63-85 have engaged Greek Doric columns, cornice and fanlight; panelled doors of original design to nos 63-5, 71, 75-81. Ground-floor windows round-arched. Sill band to first-floor windows which are flat-arched with gauged brick heads except that nos 63-5 have heads stuccoed over. Stucco cornice and blocking course to nos 55-61 but with original mouldings only on nos 57-61; stuccoed stepped parapet to nos 63-67 in place of original cornice; stucco cornice to nos 69-85. Nos 55-57 have late C20 roof extensions, nos 59-61 one dormer each, nos 63-85 mansard roof with two dormers each. Stacks to party walls. Cast-iron railings to area; overthrow to no 77.
