Terraced houses. Early C19. Yellow brick set in Flemish bond, stucco, roofs obscured by parapet. Three and four storeys over basement, two windows each except no 53 which has four windows. The terrace was presumably originally symmetrical, nos 41-5 and the inner bays of nos 39 and 47 being set forward under a pediment, but there are now seven houses to the left of the centrepiece and three to the right. All openings flat-arched with heads of gauged brick. Entrance has engaged Greek Doric columns, cornice, overlight with original glazing and panelled door of original design; first-floor windows have piano nobile proporitons and balconies with cast-iron railings; the centrepiece is four storeys high, with four giant Ionic pilasters to the upper floors supporting entablature and pediment; windows are 6/6 sashes with 3/3 sashes to second floor to centre; the other houses have dentil brickwork to the parapet; stacks to party walls.
