GV II
Public house. c.1845, the ground floor of late C19 or early C20 date. Yellow brick set in Flemish bond, stucco, possibly tiles, roof obscured by parapet. Three storeys, three-window range to Remington Street, two-window range to Nelson Place. Ground-floor pub frontage apparently faced with tiles, now painted. Flat-arched openings between pilasters with doors and windows alternating from Remington Street and ending with three small windows in a single-storey wing in Nelson Place. Fascia with moulded cornice. Upper storeys flanked by quoins, and quoins also flanking the curved corner. First- and second-floor windows flat-arched with moulded stucco architraves matching those on the houses in Remington Street; storey band to second floor. 6/6 sashes of original design in all windows except first-floor left-hand window in Nelson Place which has a raised sill. Moulded stuccco cornice continued from Remington Street. Cast-iron railings to area. INTERIOR: not inspected. (Eric Willatts: Streets with a story. The book of Islington: London: 1986-).
