GV II

Terraced houses. 1836-7. Yellow brick set in Flemish bond, stucco, roofs obscured by parapet. Three storeys over basement, two windows each. Basement and ground floor stuccoed, the ground floor decorated with banded rustication. Steps up to round-arched entrance, the doorcase set within a recessed round arch of smooth stucco, with Ionic pilasters, fanlight, with decorative galzing to nos 28 and 30, and panelled doors of original design; ground-floor window round-arched and set within a recessed round arch of smooth stucco. Upper windows flat-arched with gauged-brick heads; some sashes of original design; bracketed cast-iron balconies throughout. Stucco cornice and blocking-course; stacks on party walls. No 30 has a mansard roof with dormer visible above the parapet. Cast-iron area railings with spearhead finials. (Eric Willatts: Streets with a story. The book of Islington: London: 1986-).
