GV II
Terraced houses. c.1845. Yellow brick set in Flemish bond, stucco, roof obscured by parapet. Three storeys over basement, two windows each. Stucco to basement and ground floor, that to ground floor rusticated. Steps up to round-arched entrance, the doorcase set within a further recessed round arch of smooth stucco, with pilaster jambs except for no 14 which has fluted quarter-columns, fanlight, and panelled door probably of original design to nos 14, 18 and 20. Ground-floor window round-arched and recessed within a round-arched panel of smooth stucco. First- and second-floor windows flat-arched with gauged-brick heads and sashes of original design to ground floor of nos 18 and 20, first floor of nos 14 and 16 and second floor of no 16. Common balconies to first floors of nos 14, 16 and 18 with iron brackets and possibly replacement railings; no 20 has window-guards to the first floor. Cast-iron railings to area, those to to nos 14, 16 and 20 apparently replacement. (Eric Willatts: Streets with a story. The book of Islington: London: 1986-).
