Lodge to Audley End park. 1814. Possibly by Thomas Rickman. Enlarged c1977. Grey brickwork, addition in red brick, low pitch roof, originally lead. Plan irregular, of original square block with octagonal stair tower projecting at SE corner and porch on W front, together with added larger square, slightly set back on N side with porch on N end, 2 storeys. W front elevation to park: both original and later units are a single bay. S end (original bay), central projecting porch, embattled with moulded string, 4-centre arched doorway with label, inner door original, boarded and battened, outer door C20 mahogany, 2 leaves. Above, double casement window, glazing bars, each 2x3 panes, set in plain, broad, rendered, mock-stone surround, moulded label. All windows, old and new, are in this style. Embattled parapet and moulded string which is continued round whole building. Adjacent, to N, brick unit with single window on each floor, To N, set back, single storey brick porch in house style with simple doorway, plain boarded door. E elevation to Hanover Place: 2 single bayed blocks, old and new, in house style, newer N block slightly set back, to N, rear blank wall of N end porch, S end, octagonal stair tower, embattled with moulded string. Upper stage projects above house roof line and has blind embrasure in each face. S end elevation: single bay in house style with a window on both floors, porch blank wall set back on W side. At E end, stair tower has narrow stair lights with glazing bars, on ground and first floors, each 1x4 panes. Below lower window a brick is neatly inscribed G.C.1814. N end elevation: brick block in house style with single storey projecting porch at E end. Both have a single ground floor window. INTERIOR. Plain.
