Public house. Late C16 with early C19 refronting. Timber framing and gault brick, slate roofs. L shaped plan of long range and cross-wing plus rear addition. 2 storeys with partial attic and cellars. Front W elevation: long 4 window range with 2-windowed cross unit at N end set back slightly and with hipped roof. 3 gault brick stacks, one at each end and a large one behind ridge to N of centre. 4 bayed range. Windows all horned sashes with glazing bars, 4x4 panes. Voussoirs have tuck pointing, rest of brickwork scored. Doorway in third bay from S, door of 4 panels, upper 2 glazed, casement cellar window at S end. N ground floor 6 panel door, upper 2 glazed, adjacent tripartite sash window with glazing bars 1x4, 4x4, 1x4 panes. First floor, horned sash window 4x4 panes. Rear, E elevation: principal range and N timber-framed hip-roofed cross-wing. 2 storey hip-roofed central timber-framed and plastered addition, ashlar lined, large red brick stack behind. Further single storey ground floor brick lean-to to centre and N end. Roof at S end swept down to ground floor lean-to set back. First floor, N wing, fan-combed panel pargetting, sash window with moulded architrave glazing bars, 4x4 panes. Central block similar plain 4x4 paned sash window also C20 single light casement. S end roof, small C20 raking dormer window 2x2 panes. Lower sky-light. Ground floor N end yellow brick lean-to. Large C20 sash window, glazing bars, 5x4 panes. 4 C20 casement windows. 2 single, two 2-light. C19 doorway, overlight of 2 panes, 3 panel door, upper 2 glazed. Adjacent 2x2 paned casement segment headed window in wall of 2-storey unit. Recessed S end, central 4 panel door upper 2 glazed, lower flush bead moulded, also, double sash window with horns, each 2x2 panes and C20 2-light casement window. INTERIOR: ground floor, principal range has late C16 heavy principal ceiling joists exposed with bold chamfers. Also mortice evidence of original transverse partition towards N end.
