Former Subscription Library, now shop. c1830, with late C20 alterations. By William Fowler. Brick with yellow brick front, red brick and stone dressings, hipped slate roof and rear wall stack. Plinth, panelled first floor band, moulded cornice and blocking course. Two storeys; five window range of 12 pane sashes with flat arches. Projecting centre, three windows, under pediment. Full width late C20 shopfront with continuous fascia. Right return, to Church Street, has a rounded corner with a plain sash and C20 door with polychrome round head and blank fanlight. Both openings have keystones. To right, a plain sash and below, a C19 shop window, reglazed late C20, with a polychrome segmental head.
