Town house. C17, largely rebuilt early/mid C18. Local rubble
with granite ashlar lintel courses and flat arches to ground
and 1st floors; segmental arches to basement; steep dry slate
roof with 3 hipped roof dormers with C20 two-light casements;
brick end stacks. L-shaped plan including C18 rear wing at
right-angles on left. 2 storeys plus attic over basement. C20
horned sashes with glazing bars replacing original C18 sashes
which had had thick glazing bars removed; original C18 16-pane
basement sash towards right with thick glazing bars and arched
head; carriage opening on right; late C19 three-light shop
front on left with end pilasters with consoles, slender
mullions to basket-arched lights, C20 glazed door and
overlight on left and fascia with moulded cornice continuing
over central pilastered house doorway approached by 4 granite
steps. INTERIOR: C17 chamfered granite lintel to lateral
basement fireplace and roof structure with lap dovetails to
collars possibly also C17. C18 features include: front dogleg
staircase with turned balusters; C18 staircase to rear wing.
