GV II

Pair of town houses with later shops. Mid C19. Render replacing stucco to front with quoin strips, 2nd-floor sill band and window architraves to original openings; asbestos slate roof with projecting front eaves; brick stack on right. U-shaped plan including deep wings flanking narrow carriageway bridged by building parallel at rear. Right-hand wing includes separate house, now office. 3 storeys; 3-window range. Mid/late C19 hornless sashes except for horned replacement to one of central lights to 2nd floor and C20 window on right; central pair of lights over wider pair of lights flanked by pilastered central oriels with moulded entablature and bracketed cornices. Ground floor has 2 altered early C20 double shop fronts with later C20 fascia. Rear has 4 original hornless sashes with glazing bars. House at rear of No.14 is stucco on studwork; 3 storeys; symmetrical 3-window front. Mid/late C19 four-pane hornless sashes; central pilastered doorway with consoles and pediment, pair of 2-panel, top-glazed doors. INTERIOR of house has L-plan open-string staircase with stick balusters and mahogany handrail scrolled over newel.
