Probable merchant's house, now shop and cafe. C17 with later alterations. Render on timber frame to front; steep dry slate roof with moulded eaves cornice; brick stack on left, granite ashlar stack on right. Deep U-shaped plan with deeper wing on left. 3 storeys; 3-bay front. Hipped roofs over tiered oriels to upper floors at left and right flanking central early C19 square 12-pane hornless sash over C18 twelve-pane 2-light casement with thick glazing bars; narrower 2nd-floor oriels have similar C18 casements within remains of C17 frames, originally with mullions; wide 1st-floor oriels with small panes, both with moulded entablature, the right-hand entablature on carved brackets. ground floor has 2 early C20 transomed double shop fronts with coloured leaded top lights: left-hand shop with widened doorway, other shop with mullions removed; C20 sloping fascias. INTERIOR of No.6 (right) has front 1st-floor chamber with fine quality early C18 features: ribbed plaster ceiling with central round acanthus rose, arabesques to corners and cornice with egg and dart over dentils; fielded panelled dado and 8-panel door, eared architraves, niche with shaped shelves and chimney-piece with mid C19 flying horseshoe iron grate.
