Farmhouse, now house. Early to mid C18, altered. Handmade red
brick in Flemish bond with sandstone plinth and stone slate
roof on two levels (slate at rear). Double-depth double-fronted
plan, plus an extension at the left end (perhaps formerly a
stable or granary). Two storeys and attic, 1:2 windows. The
main range, which was formerly almost symmetrical, has the
doorway offset left of centre with an altered studded board
door and plain overlight (and now with a C20 pitched canopy on
brackets), a late C19 canted bay window to the right, a
segmental-headed 4-pane sashed window to the left and two
similar windows at 1st floor (all these with pseudo shutters (when surveyed));
and gable chimneys. The extension to the left, which is lower,
has a large segmental-headed tripartite sashed window at
ground floor and a 4-pane sash above (both with
pseudo-shutters). The right-hand gable wall has a 4-pane sash
and a cross-window casement on each floor, and a 2-light attic
window. INTERIOR: stop-chamfered beams; dog-legged staircase to
attic; fielded panel doors at 1st floor; scarf-jointed purlin
roof.
