House, now bank and County Court. c1790, with earlier features. Engraved stucco; brick; composite tile roof. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; 6-window range: 10/6 sashes with semicircular heads under gauged brick semicircular arches; 3/3 sashes over; moulded stucco cornice to stone coped parapet, and, to left, moulded wood pediment with City Arms in relief. Entrance to left: C20, 2-leaf, 6-panel doors and fanlight in stucco doorcase under C20 restored pediment hood; flanked by 6/6 sashes, with 3 further sashes to right; rusticated quoins, and moulded storeyband overall. Right returned side: 3-window range, with central cambered-head sash to 2nd floor; further C20, 5-window range to right. INTERIOR: ground floor: C17 moulded ceiling frame. Cellar: partly stone-lined; brick vaulted ceiling. Attic to rear wing: exposed stop chamfered purlins and mutilated tie beams; massive tie beam, with mutilated box-framing. Built by Charles, Duke of Norfolk.
