GV II
House. c1825, by Sir Robert Smirke(?). Stucco; fish-scale Welsh slate roof, with gable to right; 3 groups of brick octagonal stacks with prominent moulded caps, that to front stuccoed. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic; 4-window range: 3 moulded cross windows with casements and octagonal bars, in moulded architraves, and to centre right, similar single light in small staircase turret bay, with similar light over; moulded quoins, and parapet to ogee metal roof with cast-iron vane; moulded cornice, balustrading and coping with finials. Protruding porch bay has moulded "Roman" arch with bands and keystone, and balustrade with moulded coping over; 2 leaf, round-headed panelled doors; to right, 1, to left, 2 French windows. Left returned side has wood conservatory to round-headed French windows under semicircular arch; leaded Dutch gable with finials; brick to ground floor, continuing to front wall: moulded stucco dwarf wall and piers with pierced finials; railings missing, but later wrought-iron gates remain; to right, brick wall with moulded stucco and concrete coping.
