GV II

Public house. C17, remodelled early C19. Painted brick with pantile roof. Single-depth extended to double-depth plan. 2 storeys with attic; 2-window range. 2 raking dormers behind a parapet; recessed panels over flat gauged brick arches to C20 horned 8/8-pane sash windows. On the ground floor, panelled pilasters flank slightly right-of-centre door and fascia which has moulded consoles to the sides flanking C20 large 3-light windows with small panes. The C20 door to rear is slightly left of centre implying a possible former 2-unit through-passage plan, it is flanked on both floors by C20 horned 8/8-pane sash windows, timber lintels to first floor and slightly cambered brick arches to ground floor. INTERIOR: substantial chamfered cross-beam to left of door; the central formerly rear wall is approx 1.5m thick, broken through to right where there was probably an open fireplace as room above has boarded-up chimney breast above and slightly to left of it. The attic is plastered but painted rough purlins are exposed.
