GV II
Piers, gates and walls. c1840. 2 substantial Ham Hill stone piers with hollow-moulded recessed rectangular panels containing pointed arches and sunk spandrels. Moulded cornices and shallow pyramidal caps. Each pier is strongly chamfered. Iron gates spanning two-thirds and one-third of opening. Long/short rails projecting below bottom horizontal; pierced frieze of floral squares just below centre; short rails have ornamented spearheads, long ones have large trefoil-type heads linked by semi-circular loops; ornaments are cast-iron. High wall of chert extends to church boundary on left (east) and extends to west where it returns south to meet outbuilding (qv).
