Two houses, now institute, and attached railings. Built c1782 and attributed to the architect Charles Mountain senior, with
mid C19 alterations. Brick with painted ashlar dressings,
stucco basement and hipped slate roofs with Four side wall
stacks, two of them with ashlar coping. Two and three storeys plus
basement. 5-window ranges with painted brick flat arches.
No.89, to left, has rusticated basement, ground and
first-floor sill bands, first-floor band, moulded dentillated
eaves cornice and moulded coped parapet with corner pedestals.
Projecting centre, three windows, under dentillated pediment.
Steps to central Corinthian portico with C19 fielded 4-panel
door and plain fanlight. Basement has four glazing bar sashes.
Rear has two 2-storey canted bay windows with 12-pane sashes,
and between them a Venetian window. No.93, to right, has
similar detailing, with 6-pane sashes to the second floor.
Steps to central portico with columns with enriched capitals,
fielded panelled double door and plain fanlight. Basement has
four glazing-bar sashes. Outside each house, wrought-iron
spearhead railings to steps and area, with ashlar plinth.
