GV II

Vicarage, now offices. 1864. By Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. Red
brick with ashlar and blue and yellow brick dressings and
slate roof with a coped brick side wall stack. Plinth and
first-floor sill band. 3 storeys plus attics; 3-window range.
To right, a recessed bay with a canted stone 5-light oriel
window on scroll brackets. Above, 2 pointed-arched recesses
with segment-headed wooden cross casements. All these windows
have linked hoodmoulds. Above again, 2 gabled dormers with
single-pane windows. Below, a pointed-arched doorway with
hoodmould, panelled door and overlight, flanked to left by a
segment-headed cross casement. To left, a projecting gabled
bay with two pointed-arched recesses containing wooden cross
casements, and above, 2 similar smaller recesses with cross
casements. All these windows have linked hoodmoulds. Above
again, a pointed-arched recess with a late C20 top hung
casement. Below, 2 segment-headed cross casements. Scott also
restored the adjacent Church of St Mary (qv) c1861.
