Customs house now club. c1870. Rusticated and scored stucco over brick, slate roof. 3 storeys; 5 bays to Hindpool Road and 3 bays on left return facing Abbey Road. Symmetrical elevations. Moulded plinth, rusticated ground floor, raised quoins to upper floors; continuous, moulded sill bands. Central porch with part-glazed, panelled doors between antae; balustrade around 1st-floor doorway with casement in architrave under scrolled frieze and floating cornice. Outer bays have 2-storey, canted bay windows with sashes of 2:4:2 panes; vermiculated aprons and keystones to ground floor; panelled aprons, architraves and dentilled cornices above. 2nd floor: sill band with scrolls to window architraves having scrolled friezes and floating cornices; various casements. Entablature with Vitruvian scroll and 'CUSTOM HOUSE' in bold letters; dentilled cornice. Corniced end stack on right; another stack to front centre; left end of roof is hipped with broad stack across the return ridge. Left return: flat elevation with round-arched central doorway, altered window on right; otherwise generally as front.
