Details

WYLYE HIGH STREET SU 03 NW (east side) 2/135 The Bell Inn 23.3.60. (Formerly Listed as The Bell) GV II Inn. Late C17, C19 rear extension. Rubble stone and dressed limestone, tiled roof with brick stacks and coped verges. Baffle- entry plan. Two-storey, 3-windowed. C20 door to right of centre, 12-pane sash to right and two 9-pane sashes, blocked doorway and 3- light cast-iron casement to left. First floor has three 3-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements. Right return has 2-light casement to attic. Attached to left is single-storey C19 extension with casement and planked door. Attached to rear is 2-storey wing with 2-light casements and coped verge. Interior has two open fireplaces; one with plain lintel on stone jamb and one blocked with chamfered lintel with rounded corners on stone jambs.
