Details
WYLYE SHEEPWASH LANE SU 03 NW (west side) 2/139 Elmbury Cottage II Detached cottage. Early C17, extended late C17. Banded flint and limestone, thatched roof with half hip to right and hip to left, brick stack to left. Single storey and attic, 2-window; casements. Baffle-entry, formerly gable-end. Planked door in thatched roof to left of early C17 build with two 2-light casements to right, late C17 bay to left of door has 3-light casement. Attic with single and 3-light casement. Right return has 3-light casement to attic. Left return has C20 two-light casement to attic, attached weatherboarded lean-to extension. Rear has 2-light casements. Interior not accessible at time of survey (September 1985), but RCHM recorded chamfered beam with bar stops to ground floor of earlier build, first floor with open fireplace with chamfered cambered lintel on stone jambs, attic has chamfered doorcase with ogee stops. Late C17 bay has chamfered beam with ogee stops. Two-bay butt purlin roof. (Unpublished records of RCHM (England), Salisbury)
