Abbey Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse. Early C17; the east wing has bricks dated "CW 1842' & "C. White 1842", possibly the date of building. L-shape plan. Timber framed and plastered, a small part roughcast rendered; plaintiled roof. Two storeys and attic. Five windows, C19 casements; to the left hand side a C19 four-panel door. Internal stack. To the rear is a Dutch gable in red brick with some stone and flint decoration: pairs of oval windows at first floor and attic levels, a lozenge panel within the pediment and an integral stack; further oval windows at ground floor level are obscured by two C19 lean-to additions. C19 wing of red brick with slated roof: three windows facing east, all the first floor and one of the ground floor windows being dummies. Some of the internal joinery, including the staircase and doors, retains C19 woodgrain effect paintwork
