Details

SP2604-2704 ALVESCOT STATION ROAD 9/19 (North-east side) Shill House 12/09/55 (Formerly listed as Home Farmhouse)

GV II House. Early/mid C18 with C19 rear wing. Coursed limestone rubble with dressed quoins and window surrounds; rendered parapet with moulded stone cornice; stone slate roof with moulded stone gable copings; flanking chimneys, the left rendered, the right rebuilt in brick. 2 storeys, 2 bays. 3-pane sashes in chamfered stone surrounds with flush aprons between storeys. Left gable end has 2-light window to first floor with chamfered stone mullion and Tudor hoodmould. C19 rear wing has gabled attic storey with C20 2-light barred wooden casement. Below are a tripartite sash over a canted bay window with sashes, and a marginally glazed stair window over door to right. Both first floor windows have shallow stone arches with keyblocks. Door has Gothick glazing to upper panels, and depressed arch of moulded stone. Stone porch with attached fluted Doric columns, scroll brackets and open pediment hood.
