Details
WEST LAVINGTON DUCK STREET SU 0053 (north side) 13/294 The Old House II House. Late C16-early C17, and later C17. Timber framed with rendered brick panels, slate roof. Four bays. Through passage in third bay with former service room to right and main parlour in second bay and further service room probably a later C17 additon in first bay, on left. Framing two panels high to heavy bressumer, with a third panel over in wide close studding, all on greensand sills. Door in later porch. Timber windows with applied lead diamond glazing, and hood boards. Four flush gabled dormers, and later C17 raised dormers over two central bays to rear. Right gable of stone, with pantiled single storey lean-to. Interior has large stone stack with timber lintel and oven to right service room. Spine beams with check and scoop stops. Stair reset in third bay. Parlour in second bay has stone fireplace. Stack to rear probably added. Roof with housed and tenoned purlins and windbraces to centre bay.
