5/29 Park Farmhouse
-
- II
Farmhouse, late C17 with alterations of early C19. 3-cell lobby-entrance plan, but with further accommodation at the service end. 2 storeys. Red brick in English bond, with parapet gables and moulded brick cornice at the eaves. Plain tiled roofs; an internal chimney with saw-tooth pattern shaft, recapped C19. Mainly C19 3-light casements with segmental-arched heads; those at ground floor have transomes with square lights above. At either gable end are altered original openings with hood-mould, and splayed reveals; near the apex is a splayed circular window. 1-storey gabled plair tiled C19 entrance porch with 6-panelled door. The 1st floor structure is exposed in the main rooms with joists on edge. The chambers above hall and parlour are ceiled at high collar level, and the principal rafters at the open truss are without tie-beams. A forward-projecting 2-storey block to right, although awkwardly positioned, appears to be original or a very early addition. A small 2 storey wing at rear was added in 2 stages, C18 and early C19.
