Details
SP3003-3103 BAMPTON CHURCH CLOSE (North-east side) 13/49 Cobb House 12/09/55 (Formerly listed as Bampton Vicarage) GV II Former vicarage, now house. C17 in origin, with early C18 wing to north and large late C18 extension to south. Refurbished early 1980's. Coursed rubble limestone with dressed quoins, formerly roughcast. Stone slate roofs, hipped over C18 blocks. Brick chimneys rebuilt C19/C20. 2 storeys. Late C18 block at front has 2 bays to south and 4 to east. 3-pane sashes with timber lintels, those to ground floor of east front full-height. South front has tripartite sash to ground floor left, and 4-pane sash in altered opening to ground floor right. Entry via early C20 lean-to wooden porch on west front. Early C18 wing is lower and has 3 bays of 3-pane sashes to first floor of east front, and C20 top-hung casement to ground floor left. C20 French doors in link with later C18 block. Passage extension to rear. Projecting to west is an altered C17 gabled wing, of 2 storeys and attic, with late C18/C19 2-storey bow window. Bow window has leaded casements. Interior has early C19 reeded marble fireplace in late C18 block.
