GV II

Town house, now flat and shops. C17, refronted c.1780. Flared header bond brick, red brick quoins and dressings; roof and stacks not visible. T-plan. 3 storeys; 5-window range. C20 shop fronts. First and second floors have keyed stone lintels over original sashes. Red brick string course and parapet course; parapet panelled in red brick. Roof and stacks not visible. Interior: First floor of No.7 (left) has late C18 fireplace. No.8 has late C17 panelling to right, late C17 panelled doors, and C17 winder stairs, much restored. C17 four-bay roof has central collar truss flanked by timber-framed closed trusses. C17 two-storey wing to rear of No.8 has C18 brick walling, gabled old and C20 tile roof and brick ridge stack; C17 four-light leaded casement to left side wall; C17 three-bay queen-post roof. Structural evidence indicates that this wing is later than the front, which was probably timber-framed also.
