KIDDINGTON WITH ASTERLEIGH KIDDINGTON SP4122 10/68 Dovecote approx. Slim to NW of 27/08/57 Kiddington Hall (Formerly listed as Dovecote at Kiddington Hall)

GV II

Dovecote. Probably C17. Coursed limestone rubble with stone dressings. Conical stone slate roof. Circular plan. One storey and loft over basement. Central square rendered wooden glover with 3 openings to each side and pyramidal stone-slate cap with lead-covered finial. Three rendered gabled eaves dormers with 2-light diamond-leaded wooden casements. Boarded door to north with wooden lintel (possibly a C19 insertion) and basement doorway to south-west with chamfered stone reveals and wooden lintel. Interior: nesting boxes in walls, some with ledges, 5 tiers to basement and it tiers to ground floor. Ground floor with C19 beams (either an insertion or an alteration). Roof with ashlar pieces and rafters filled at apex to glover. This dovecote stands in the grounds of kiddington Hall (q.v.).
