Details
STOURTON WITH GASPER FROME ROAD ST 73 SE (west side) 6/115 Drove Lodge GV II Lodge to Stourhead House. Circa 1790, for Richard Colt Hoare. Rubble stone, tiled hipped roof with bands of fishscale tiles, ashlar stacks with moulded cappings. Single-storey, 3-window front facing road. Central canted bay with 2-light and single-light mullioned casements with cusped arched lights, 2-light mullioned casement with cusped arched lights either side, all with hoodmoulds. Attached to left and right returns are single-storey lean-to extensions with planked doors. C20 lean-to addition to rear. One of several lodges built for Colt Hoare in picturesque style, possibly by William Reveley who designed the Clock Tower Lodge, 1797.
