CORSHAM PRIORY STREET ST 87 70 (south side) 5/349 The Old Fire Station GV II
Fire station, late C19 incorporating C17 or early C18 building, rubble stone with stone tiled roof. Two-storey with single storey C19 wing. Main range has east end timber bell turret, C19 openings below, C19 north side doors and south side 4-light flush bead- moulded mullion window over 3-light recessed ovolo-moulded window, both with hoodmoulds. Two west end parallel extensions, south side ashlar below and red brick above, north side rubble stone, both with hipped west gables. From south-east angle a later C19 extension with west side coach-doors, window with reused lintel dated 1709 and projecting gabled coach-house with 2-light reused recessed cyma-moulded gable window over coach-doors. Included for group value.
