Details

HANBOROUGH CHURCH HANBOROUGH SP4212 24/137 2 barns approx. 20m WSW of The 16/05/86 Barn House (Formerly listed as Barns 40m W of The Barn House) GV II Two barns. Dated H/IF/1695 (to right) and 1779. Coursed limestone rubble; gabled concrete tile roof. 5-bay late C17 barn has gabled porches to either side of central threshing floor; front porch has timber lintel over late C17 plank door with decorative iron hinges to left and pigeon nest boxes above lintel of front doors. Similar nest boxes beneath eaves. Early/mid C19 windows to right of porch associated with insertion of floor. Late C18 three-bay extension to left has timber lintel over boarded entry and gabled porch to other side. Interior: late C18 barn has collar-truss roof with butt purlins, and late C17 barn has similar roof with probably C18 Queen struts.
