CASTLE COMBE LONG DEAN ST 87 NW 2/104 Lower Long Dean Mill

II

Mill, now house, later C18 on earlier core. Mill house and drying shed to north survive, mill formerly attached to south demolished. Ashlar and rubble stone with stone tiled roofs. Mill house ashlar fronted with coped gables and ashlar end wall stacks. 3 storey, double fronted with two 9-pane attic windows and two pairs of 8- pane sashes to first and ground floor. Bead-moulded flush surrounds. Central 6-panel door in bead-moulded surround with pediment on brackets over. Raised plinth and bands at floor levels and eaves. Drying shed to north raised up on bank to even roof level, rubble stone base with ashlar piers to 5-bay originally open drying floor, infilled with rubble-stone, two 6-pane windows and loading door to rear. 2 doors at rear to lower passage. Rear wall of house is rubble stone with cyma-moulded 1 and 2-light windows, some reused from a demolished rear range.
