Details
NORTON THE STREET, Foxley ST 88 NE (north side) 3/66 Foxley House GV II
Detached house. Probable C16 core range with C17, early C18 and C19 additions and alterations. Coursed rubble with some render to rear and side walls, squared and coursed dressed stone to south front with ashlar dressings, some wooden lintels to C16 range and later, predominantly early C18 range; stone slate roofs with stone stacks and 1 west end brick stack. L-shaped plan with core range parallel to churchyard and south-west wing of 3 subsequent building periods. South front of 2 storeys and attic, 5 bays, with 2- storey, 1-window C19 addition to left-hand. Windows are late C19 wooden cross-mullions under cambered heads: two 2-light dormers. Central glazed door, first floor moulded string course. Late C19 casement fenestration to rear elevations and core range. Interior. C16 range has winder staircase and butt-purlin roof structure; ground floor right-hand room of early C18 section has raised and fielded panelling and wall niches.
