GV II
House. Late C16, C17 and later. Part 2 storeys and attics, part 2 storeys;
complex form. Timber-framed and rendered with plaintiled roofs. The front
range, in 2 bays, has an external red brick chimney-stack on the front wall:
stepped sides, plain shaft. Beside the stack, a small C18 gabled projection
with a small-paned fixed window. A rear wing has evidence that the roof has
been raised, and along the former gable-end is a weather-worn tie-beam with
embattled ornament. A further 1½-storey C18 range is now set at right angles
against this gable wall, with a chimney-stack between. Some plain timbering
exposed throughout the house. The large open fireplaces have their original
bricks and mortar. Various casement windows and doors. The middle range of
the house, where the roof has been raised, may well be the oldest part of the
building.
