- II
House. Late C16 to left, dated TW 1815 to right. Chalk rubble brought to course; with limestone dressings to left; squared chalk to right; thatched roof; brick stacks. Original 2-unit plan extended by 2 units with additional rear wing in early C19. 1 1/2-storey, 4-window range. Late C16 studded door to left has decorative ironwork to straps and handle, and bars-over sliding shutter; C19 plank door to right. 3-light stone-mullioned windows to left with splayed surrounds; C20 plate glass with original iron fittings. Timber lintels over 2- and 1-light leaded casements to right, one with plate glass inserted. C16 block has one similar 3-light window and a 2-light stoned-mullioned ovolo- moulded window lighting the stairs; 3-light leaded casements to rear of C19 right side. End stacks; half-flipped roof. Interior: C19 2-panelled and plank doors. Cambered bressumer over left C16 fireplace with small salt/spice cupboard with original door and butterfly hinges; timber-framed central partition wall, original beams with stopped chamfers; C20 staircase in original position, within a 5-sided projection from the rear wall; first floor has C16 panelled door-and collar-trusses with butt purlins; jowled central post veiling beams morticed into collars; C19 right side more plain but retains chamfered beams. Early C19 rear wine random bond brick; Welsh slate roof; 1 1/2-storey, 4-window range; 2-bay post and pad truss.
