2/188 Allengrove Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse, C17 altered in C19, rubble stone with stone slate roof, end stacks and ridge stack. 2½ storeys. Original double fronted building has had eaves gablets and additional bay to left with similar gablet added or rebuilt in C19. C19 work is in squared rubble stone. Original range has C19 casement pairs in frames of former ovolo-moulded mullion windows with hoodmoulds, C19 casement pairs to eaves gablets. Central door in C19 gabled brick and timber porch. Bay to left has identical gablet, first floor casement pair in unmoulded surround and ground floor door and casement pair with timber lintel. Stonework suggests that only upper floors are C19. Bridgwater-tiled outbuilding attached to left. Lower addition to right with two ground floor windows, one above, Bridgwater tiles and end stack. Rear has gabled projection with ovolo-moulded 2-light window each floor and similar window to first floor of main range, to left. Beaded first floor 2-light window to right. Deeds are said to go back to 1553.
