House, now forms 2 dwellings. Initialled and dated " N " (the Norton family). S A 1683 Hammer-dressed stone, stone slate roof (tarred). 2 storeys. 2-cell plan with direct-entry into 1st cell, double-depth. Quoins. 1st cell has Tudor-arched doorway with composite jambs and chamfered surround to left of 4-light double- chamfered mullioned window with almost-square reveals (2 mullions removed) both under continuous cyma-moulded dripcourse. Former 2-light window above and to each floor of 2nd cell which has inserted doorway and dripcourse to ground- floor window. Coped gables with kneelers. External stack to left gable, another stack set in front pitch of 2nd cell.
Interior: stop-chamfered spine beams. Rear room of 1st cell has datestone, probably part of lintel of fireplace.
Built by the Nortons as the Dower House to Kettlethorpe Hall. RCHM (England) report.
