GV II
Two houses, probably once house and service wing. Kencot Lodge, set back to
left, is late C18-early C19, altered, of coursed limestone rubble with stone
slate roof and rendered ridge chimneys. 2 storeys, 2 bays. Ground floor has 2
C20 bay windows to centre with wooden casements and hipped tile roofs, and small
flanking 3-light casements with wooden lintels. First floor has larger 3-light
wooden casements with glazing bars and old wooden lintels. Entry in later wing
at right-angles to rear. North Lodge, added as main house c.1820-30 has dressed
stone front, rubble stone gables, and stone slate roof. Flanking ashlar chimneys
with attached square shafts and moulded cornices. 2 storeys and attic, 3-bay
fenestration. Rubble stone plinth with chamfered coping. Left bays have 3-pane
sashes in flush stone surrounds with beaded edges. Right bay has narrower 2-pane
sash in similar surround over door. 2 small gabled roof dormers with 2-light
barred wooden casements. 4-panelled door, renewed C20, with semi-circular
radiating fanlight, in moulded stone architrave surround with depressed head.
