Church Cottage
II
House. C17-early C18, altered C19 and C20. Coursed rubble limestone with stone
slate roof. Rubble stone chimneys to left and centre with shafts rebuilt C20 in
white brick. 2 storeys and attic, 2 main bays with central stair bay. Wooden
casements with wooden lintels. Ground floor has C20 2-light casements with
crossed glazing bars, the right with C16-C17 moulded lintel, possibly re-used,
with zig-zag and dentil ornament. First floor has C20 3-light casements without
glazing bars, but with old chamfered lintels. To centre of first floor is a tall
late C19-C20 3-pane sash, probably a stair window. 2 gabled roof dormers with
small-paned 2-light casements, linked by half-glazed door with wooden lintel.
Right gable end, facing road, also has wooden casements in original openings
with wooden lintels, and single-storey extension with board door and flanking
casements. Lean-to to rear. Old double purlin roof.
