ENSTONE CHURCH STREET SP3625-3725 (North side) Church Enstone 14/52 Rectory Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse, now house. Circa 1700, incorporating earlier elements; extended C20. Coursed squared marlstone and limestone with wooden lintels; artificial stone-slate roof with ashlar lateral stack. 3-unit plan, extended. 2 storeys plus attic. 4-window marlstone front, with a first-floor storeyband, has aligned irregularly-spaced renewed cross windows with chamfered lintels, and has the entrance in a C20 stone porch in bay 2. Steep-pitched roof has 3 gabled C20 roof dormers. Gabled C20 extension breaks forward on left. Right end wall, in limestone, continues the storeyband and has 12-pane sashes with flat arches to 3 floors. Rubble rear wall has several blocked openings and a large lateral stack with a plinth. Interior: C16/C17 Tudor-arched stone fireplace with later jambs. Probably on the site of the rectorial manor house. C20 range is not of special architectural interest.
