Details

SP4631 DEDDINGTON ST. THOMAS STREET (East side) 8/236 Nos.2 and 3

II Cottage and house. Probably early C18 and mid C18, altered early C19. Coursed squared marlstone with some ashlar dressings; Welsh-slate roofs with brick end stacks. 2-unit and single-unit plans. 2 storeys. No.2 is earlier with a steep-pitched roof; it has a 2-light C20 casement at each floor, probably reduced in width at an early date, and has the doorway set to right, all openings with ashlar flat arches. Regular 2-window front of No.3 to left, is higher at the eaves and has 3-light C18 casements at first floor with chamfered lintels; central doorway has a fielded 4-panel door, but flanking windows have 9-pane C19 sashes below earlier wider limestone-ashlar flat arches. Roof, of moderate pitch, has gable parapets with moulded projecting kneelers. Interiors not inspected.
