BANBURY ST. JOHN'S ROAD SP4540SW (North side) 9/202 No.6 08/07/75 (Formerly listed as No.6 (P.N.E.U. School St. John's House))

GV II

Church house, now used by St. John's school. Early C19. Frontage to South Bar; brick fronted with limestone ashlar, slate roofs, rendered brick end stacks. 3 storeys; 2-window range. Rusticated ground floor has 2 bay windows with pilasters and sashes. First floor has 2 sashes with moulded stone surrounds and cornices (4-panes altogether). Second floor has 2 sashes. Pairs of flanking pilasters and central pilaster through first and second floors. Moulded chamfered eaves cornice. Frontage to St. John's Road; brick, partly painted white. 3-storey part to left, with 2-storey and single-storey parts to right. Left part has entrance with arched doorway and patterned fanlight. Blocked window to left with brick flat arch. First floor has a blocked window and a sash with glazing bars (3-pane width). Second floor has 2 blocked windows with brick flat arches. Rendered parapet. 2-storey brick extensions to right; one has a sash window with glazing bars to ground floor and 2 oriel windows to first floor. Interior not inspected.
