SWINBROOK AND WIDFORD WIDFORD SP2712 13/147 Widford Manor House 12/09/55 (Formerly listed as Widford Manor) GV II
Manor house. Probably early C17, with cross-wing to left dated 1696 to sundial at ground floor left, with C19 and C20 alterations. Coursed stone rubble; coursed squared stone to cross-wing; stone slate roof, hipped to cross-wing; various stone stacks. 2-storey, 5-window range with 2-storey-and-attic, 5-window cross-wing with 2-bay ends. 6-panel door to right of cross-wing with moulded stone surround. 3-light stone mullion window to ground floor right of main range with stone hood mould. 3-light wood mullion windows to ground floor left and centre of main range with stone hood moulds. Single-light casements to first floor left and right with stone hood moulds. 2-light stone mullion window with stone hood mould to first floor right of centre. 2-light wood mullion windows with stone hood would to first floor left of centre, and to centre. C20 casement to ground floor left of cross-wing with stone hood mould. Stone cross-window to first floor right of cross-wing, with stone hood mould. Wood cross-window to first floor left of cross-wing with stone hood mould. Wood dentil cornice to cross-wing. Left return: irregular fenestration of stone mullion and stone mullion and transom windows. Interior: C18 open-well staircase from ground floor to attic with baluster balustrade and moulded wood handrail. Open fireplace to ground floor left of centre. Trenched purlin roof.
