II
Detached house on old fortified site. Late C18, remodelling of
older house. Rendered rubble; slatehanging to 1st floor; dry
slate roof; large external stack on left. Rectangular
double-depth plan with central cross passage and rear stair
hall plus later lean-to on the right. 2 storeys; overall
4-window range with original nearly symmetrical 3-window front
on the left with left-of-centre doorway. Old 3-light casements
with horizontal glazing bars, except for small-pane casement
to bottom left. C19 glazed and flush-panelled door to original
part, later door on right; slate hoods on brackets. Rear has
irregularly disposed casements including 3-light stair window.
Right-hand end has old panelled door on the left. INTERIOR:
some slate flagged floors; original 2-panel doors; large
fireplaces with later chimney-pieces; original joists to
right-hand room; original simple staircase with stick
balusters.
